Motherhood causes our bodies to change in all sorts of ways. Some of us embrace this fact with ease, while others strive to return to the body they once had. But whether or not we ‘bounce back’ - whatever that may mean - one thing is true for us all: that in one way or another, we are all changed for good.
Our bodies have done something extraordinary: they’ve grown, birthed and nourished life. And they deserve to have something to show for it. Though it’s not always visible to others, trust us, we all do.
If your true desire is to get back to the treadmill, to rebuild strength, to feel well and energised for your family, that’s something to celebrate. But if right now it looks more like blow-drying your hair, watching a show, or stealing ten quiet minutes to yourself outside, that counts too. It all counts. Whether we’re bigger, smaller, softer, or stronger than before, maybe it's time to rewrite the narrative and honour our bodies for what they've done, not just how they look.
We're not asking you to love your body. But be kind to yourself and celebrate your body for what it's done.
